Mission Statement:
The “Gulf Coast
RV Club” is a club designed especially for the weekend travelers. Our club welcomes families which
includes couples and singles. There are also many pets within these
families. The club does not
discriminate to any RV as long as it is a self-contained unit. We are a fun and relaxed group of people
who consider all of our members one of the family. All those who have come to a rally as a
guest leave as a member.
History:
The "Gulf
Coast Rv Club" is a newly created RV Club based in Houston, Tx. dedicated
to those RVers who would still like to take some time out from their busy lives
to take short distance weekend get-a-ways with other good spirited
RVers. This club takes Weekend trips in the vicinity of about a
150 miles radius of Houston which should
take no more than 2 1/2 hour drive or less one
way.
To become a member you must own a "Fifth
Wheel, Motor Home, Travel Trailer, Pop-Up Camper or Truck
Camper". Couples with Kids are always welcome in our club. We
even plan our rallies with the kids in mind by picking Parks and Resorts with
kid activities and Pools in the Summer months.
The idea of this club came up when a group of
us posted messages on the "Open Road Forum" (RV.NET) and inquired about taking
short trips because of the short amount of time we had available. Most
clubs we looked at traveled longer distances and some trips even lasted a
week or more.
Because we were all excited about having such
a club, I decided to start taking names of all interested parties to
see if we could come up with enough people to get a club started and after only
3 weeks, we had 17 couples who signed up. This was enough for me to really
get excited and get the ball rolling.
Well after posting to the forum about
starting a local club, we planned our first meeting on August 26th, 2004 at
the Kemah RV
Resort in Bayview, Tx. with 7 Rigs and a total of 21
people attending. We're getting inquiries from others who want to join and
really looking forward to growing even more in the future.
To our visitors who are just browsing this
site, we wish to invite you to join our Club if you're the weekend traveler who
doesn't get a chance to take those long RV vacation trips. You've just
stopped by where others just like you are waiting to meet and greet you at our
next Rally.
